Flight to Auckland

The longest flight of our journey is complete. 12.5 hours! Whew! That was a long flight. We watched a couple of movies and thanks to Unisom were conked out for the better half of the flight. As we were coming in to Auckland, we noticed very low hanging clouds that covered huge expanses of the water around us. The man sitting next to us said that NZ is known as the "land of low hanging clouds". Apparently named this by people who settled the islands hundreds of years ago. He also pointed out several volcanos from the plane and mentioned that NZ is also known for it's over 48 volcanos...some of which are still active.

We have also found that Marmite and Vegemite are here in NZ. I have heard of this spread, but have never tried it. David wants me to try it... I have no idea what to expect. We'll keep you posted. We'll try to post some pictures after we get to Tahiti.

The Countdown Begins....

It is now, 9 days before David and I leave for our around the world adventure honeymoon. We are going to be gone for an entire month, which is both strange and exciting. Neither of us have ever taken this much time off work before. It's sort of strange to think of not being chained to a laptop.

Our first stop is officially Auckland, NZ. We are there a few hours and then we fly to Tahiti. After Tahiti, it's back to Auckland and then over to Sydney. From Sydney we go to Bangkok, Mumbai, and then Athens. We can change where we go pretty much any time we want as long as we continue in the same direction.

I started laying clothes out for the trip on the bed in the spare bedroom. It's hard to think of packing enough clothes for a month. I stopped at the store yesterday to pick up a few items and found this roll-on sunscreen... it's a solid so we don't have to pack it in with our liquids! Yippie!!!
I also stopped in Lush, and got travel friendly shampoo, conditioner and lotion. I love that they are all solids. We don't have to count any of that stuff in the little baggy at the airport.
